Thank you for your interest in our club.
The club is friendly and informal so just getting stuck in is a good way of finding out about the teachings.
All you will have to do is sign a disclaimer/ contact sheet and start to play!
You will be happy to know that one of the key philosophies of Ninjutsu is that all the movements are natural - so the martial art can be adapted to you rather than moulding yourself into the martial art. You may find some of the stances feel a little odd to start with but you will not be asked to do the splits or anything like that, but you will be expected to stretch - Flexibility is good - martial art or not!
We do recommend that you attempt to keep fit, but this is more of a guideline than an order. I should point out that we do not spend anytime in class getting fitter. My view is you have 2 hours to learn our martial art - you have all week to go to the gym!
The students are made up of people from all walks of life and come not only as often as they can but as often as they want to - you have probably already read by now but its all about balancing out your life!
In terms of medical condition - you have to declare that you are fit and able. We also ask you to sign a disclaimer saying that you are partaking of your own free will and you accept all responsibility.
This sounds aggressive, but Ninjutsu is not for the faint hearted, we train in the most real way possible - whilst ensuring safety. That said, the Tuesday club is aimed at the lower grades and is informal, relaxed and less harsh than you are probably thinking now (I am nice... Honest).
Most of the regular students train elsewhere as well. In point of fact, most instructors actively encourage training with others. We all have our own interpretations, styles and teaching methods so in order to achieve a rounded style of your own it is better to train as often as you can with as many different instructors. We even have some students who train in other martial arts!
The best thing is to come and play for a couple of lessons to see how you get on.
Hope this helps,
Matt
